Ralston C. Glatz

Ralston C. Glatz, 84, of Lansford, formerly Johnstown passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon at Lehigh Center, Macungie.

Ralston was born in Johnston PA on March 2, 1932. 

He was the son of the late Thelma (Chase) and John Glatz.

Ralston was the husband of the late Mildred “Millie” (Lord) Glatz, the daughter of Porter Lord WW1 Army Veteran 1918.

He was a graduate of Westmont Upper Yoder High School, Class of 1950. 

He also earned a B/S in Chemistry from Penn State class of 1958.

Ralston served in the Army (1952-54) during the Korean War. 

He was of the Jehovah Witness faith and was a member of the Kingdom Hall, Lehighton.

He worked most of his career as chemist.  He worked for the Atlas Powder Co, Tamaqua from 1965-1995.

Ralston was a member of the American Chemical Society for over  50 years.  He was also an Atlas 25 Year Club Member.

He enjoyed reading, watching TV, eating (aka grazing), hunting in his younger years, and bird watching.

In addition to his spouse, he was preceded in death by; daughter Thelma Urban; brother John Glatz; brother William Glatz; brother Kent Glatz; sister Shirley Riegleman, sister Elva Glatz; sister Gladys Wilson.

Ralston is survived by; daughter Theresa wife of Barry Veron, Lansford; daughter Sonya Glatz, Emmaus; son in law Michael Urban, Lake Wynonah; brother Frank Glatz husband of Eunice, Greensboro, NC; sister Thelma Strosser, Washington PA; sister Isabelle Wiest wife of Norm, Northville MI; sister Violet Blake, wife of Larry, Greensville NC.

He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren.  Many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held Thursday evening at 7:30 PM .  A viewing for family and friends will be held Thursday evening from 6 until the time of services at the Shawn E. Clark Funeral Home, Lansford.     

Burial with military honors will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville Friday at 3:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Ralston’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105.
