Nicholas Butrie Jr.

 

 

Nicholas Butrie Jr., 86, of Lansford passed away Friday morning at home.

 

Nicholas was born in New Columbus on December 28, 1932.  

 

He was the son of the late Anastasia (Halushchak) and Nicholas Butrie Sr. 

 

Nicholas was the husband of Margaret (Kenderish) Butrie who passed away Sunday, they were married for over 65 years.    

 

He was a graduate of Nesquehoning High School, Class of 1950.  

 

Nicholas was an Army veteran and served in the Korean War.

 

Nicholas was a very devoted Catholic.  He was a member of St. John the Baptist, Lansford and former member of St. Katherine Drexel (St. Michael’s), Lansford. 

 

Nicholas worked most of his career for Silberline Manufacturing.

 

He enjoyed playing pinochle, gardening, and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren.

 

In addition to his spouse he is preceded in death by; sister Mary Dorofee; brother John Butrie; sister Anna Schad; brother Peter Butrie; brother George Butrie; brother Michael Butrie; daughter Margaret Butrie.

 

Nicholas is survived by; sister Esther Kubena wife of Louis, Southington CT; daughter Regina Kromer wife of LeRoy, Andreas; son Nicholas Butrie husband of Julie, New Columbus; son Timothy Butrie husband of Kay, Hellertown; son Joseph Butrie husband of Wendy, Lansford; son Fr. Matthew-Peter Butrie husband of Lisa, Grand Blanc, MI.

 

 

He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; LeRoy II, Jennifer, Tim, Roxanne, Melissa, Kate, Lauren, Alex, Ashley, Adam, Monique, Taras and Stasia; 16 great grandchildren; caregivers Debbie Kupres and John Zonca; many nieces nephews.  

 

A Funeral Service for the couple will be held Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in the St. John Byzantine Church, 104 E. Bertsch St., Lansford with Rev. Dr. Vasyl Chepelskyy officiating. Calling hours will be held Thursday morning from 9:00-11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will take place Friday morning at 9:30 AM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
